What it takes to Become a Great Swimmer?

Most people do not know what it takes to be a swimmer. The majority of the population thinks that to be a great swimmer takes practicing and being able to swim.  Becoming an amazing swimmer takes more than practicing and the natural talents of swimming, but it takes effort, mindset, and determination. Of course, practicing and natural talents are factors that play into the quality of the swimmer but they are not anything that makes you in a great swimmer. Practicing will only make you better if you are focused, determined, and willing to be in the effort to be better, but if you are not practicing is useless. The correct attitude toward swimming will lead to an improvement. A swimmer's mindset is the key to become a fast and best swimmer.

All these following traits are required to become a great swimmer:
  1. Work Effort - is anything! what you are willing to out in is will determine what you get out.
  2. Setting Goals - Swimming for a goal creates a focus and determined swimmer. For anything in life knowing your goal, will lead you to achieve your goal.
  3. Being Coachable - having respect for your coach, and willing to take corrects to your strokes makes average swimmers into great swimmers. Uncoachable swimmers lead to moody, sloppy and swimmers that just can't improve.
  4. Your Self-talk -  a swimmer with a positive self-talk will be able to push through the hard sets to take their swimming to the next level. With a negative self-talk, you are more likely to quit or not take the paces and speed need to improve your speed from the set.
SwimSwam also talks about the work ethic, focus, and details it takes to make the great swimmer. SwimSwam listed ten things that you can do in the pool to be better that has nothing to do with your talent.
